The letter I is made from small crochet granny squares

I used DK cotton in three contrasting colours and a size 3.5mm crochet hook

I have taken photos of most of the steps, but if you find it easier to actually see what is happening there are loads of videos of the crochet stitches on you tube.

I used the following stitches (UK terminology)

Chain (ch) yarn over hook, pull through loop

Slip stitch (sl st) insert hook, yarn over pull through stitch and through loop on hook

Double crochet (dc), insert hook, yarn over, pull through loop, now 2 loops on hook, yarn over and pull through 2 loops on hook.

Treble (tr), yarn over, insert hook, yarn over, pull through loop, now 3 loops on hook, yarn over, pull through first two loops, yarn over, pull through 2 loops

Create the starting loop, insert hook through loop and pull through. there is now 1 loop on hook. Keep the large loop open. yarn over and pull through loop (ch)
