B for Baking Bread

I’ve decided to change a few of my letters from the original plan, as I thought I needed to bake a few more letters! So B for bread!

Again I’m using my wonderful Kitchenaid with the dough hook. It saves me so much time but you can make the bread by hand if your prefer.

Measure into your bowl 500g strong white flour, 7g sachet of fast action yeast, 2tsp of salt, 300ml water and 3tbsp olive oil. I set the mixer to No 2 and let it knead away for 10 minutes. This gave me plenty of time to make packed lunches and have a quick shower!

Once the dough is smooth place the dough into a bowl and leave to prove in a warm place for at least an hour. I left mine for 2 hours as I had the school run to do and dog to walk.

The dough should have at least doubled in size by now.

Empty the dough onto a floured surface and shape into your desired loaf shape. As I wanted the letter B i rolled into a long sausage shape to make the letter B.

Put the dough on a floured baking tray and prove again in a warm place for another hour.

Once the dough has risen again lightly dust with flour and place in the oven 200°C (fan) for 20-25 minutes. The bread is ready when golden brown and sounds hollow when you tap underneath.

Leave to cool and enjoy !
