Happy New Year to you all! I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. Making and Baking Headquarters was a busy place over the festivities. Although I didn’t do too much making just lots of baking and cooking for my guests.
Back to “normality” this week with school runs, and the usual routines. A few more routines have been added as we welcomed two little friends to our home after Christmas. Kevin and Gus!
I’ve also been busy completing my quilted row for the quilting group I’m a member of. I’m new to quilting so I thought it would help me learn new skills. The group was started by Clio at Pyrus Studios http://www.pyrus-studio.com where I go each week for knit and chatter! There are nine of us in the group and we each chose a theme for our quilt. Mine was Christmas of course! I made my first row and it was ready to pass onto the next person for them to create their own row in my chosen theme. We all have a month to complete the row then pass it on. At the end we will have nine rows to make into a quilt!
This is my first attempt at a quilted row, all very Christmassy!
I have finished a Mardis Gras, and gratitude row for two other members and I am now on with a bird theme!
I have also been introduced to a “Swap a hexagon flower” group. This is hand sewn English Paper Piecing again a fairly new craft for me. So I have been busy mixing and matching fabric for the specific choices of the others in the group. My choices are for flowers in pinks and purples. I have sewn a few in the last few days but these are a couple I remembered to photo before I posted them!
I will share with you how I have made the flowers in the next few days!
I’ve also started a new crocheting project ! I like to keep busy! I found a lovely pattern at http://crejjtion.com/pattern/beautiful-blanket/
So far I have made 7 squares, but I have lots more to make! I want it to be a runner on my bed so this may take a while!
Lots to keep me busy in the next few weeks! x
